Why Muse Group Is So Much More Than A “Purple Door”

It’s 2022, which means that things are moving forward! Equality is a common topic of discussion, and there are social repercussions for intolerant behavior. While women, BIPOC, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community know that there’s so much more work to be done, it’s also a massive step in the right direction. What’s the problem with this societal shift? Some now use these viewpoints as a sales tool, regardless of if they actually care about protecting the people they’re advertising to. Now, those who desire to consume ethically have to tiptoe through landmines of “Feminist AF’” t-shirts that were made at the expense of women overseas and rainbow products created by companies that discriminate against the LGBTQIA+ community.

With all of this in mind, the Muses often discuss how our diversity and womanhood make us stronger as an agency. Everyday, we bring our varied backgrounds to the table to create something new for our clients, but it’s important to us that we do this in an authentic way. We don’t want to flaunt our “Woman-Owned and Operated” title without being able to identify why that’s a good thing. So, here are five reasons why we believe Muse Group is stronger as a woman-owned and operated company:

  • We’re not in competition with one another

When people find out you work exclusively with women, you’re often told to “watch out”. People believe that the only way women can work together is if they’re in competition with one another. We’ve all seen the overused trope of women being “catty” and the idea that women can’t trust other women. At Muse Group, we uplift, inspire, and encourage one another. Our culture allows for collaboration, vulnerability, and the ability to ask questions and learn.

  • There’s no one way to be a woman

There are so many stereotypes about what it’s like to work with women, but the truth is that there is no one way to be a woman. Just like every other business, Muse Group is made up of individual, unique people who bring their past experience and knowledge to the table to create incredible work for our clients. We work well together because of the ways our strengths balance each other out, not simply because we are all women.

  • Communication is key

If there’s one thing that rings true at Muse, it’s that we know how to communicate. Our team’s ability to communicate the needs of our clients and ourselves is what keeps our team so strong. From weekly check-ins where we give appreciation to each other, to team outings where we discuss our strengths and weaknesses as a team, we always know what needs work and what to capitalize on.

  • We know what it’s like to be left out of the conversation

As women in business, we know how it feels to be left out of the conversation. To be looked over, even if we can provide vital insight. This experience has made us simultaneously stronger and softer. We know to stand our ground when needed and to push our way to a spot at the table, but we also know how to really hear our clients’ needs and give them exactly what they want to reach their goals. We take pride in seeing our clients for who they are and sharing their passion for their businesses.

  • We refuse to “Market like a Man”

As a woman, you’re often told to “act like a man”. To get ahead, you have to match the energy of the men in the room. At Muse, we refuse to see our feminine qualities as our downfall. We refuse to “market like men”, simply because, well, we aren’t men. To be successful, you need to play to your strengths, and our lived experiences as women are not our weaknesses. In fact, it’s quite the contrary.

We could go on forever about how Muse is so much more than “A Pink Door,” We love what we do because of the way we do it. At Muse, we’re shifting the culture in marketing agencies, and that’s something we take pride in!
